$56,000 for a week of hairstyling?!

Jennifer Aniston came under fire this week for reportedly shelling out that jaw-dropping sum to bring her hairstylist along on her "Marley & Me" tour of Europe.

And it was totally worth it, elite stylists say.

After all, isn't great hair just part of what makes Jennifer Aniston, well, Jennifer Aniston?

"You can't put any price on it - it's priceless," says legendary hair stylist Edward Tricomi, co-founder of the elite Warren Tricomi salons.

Tricomi, who works with several celebrities, likens Aniston and her luscious - albeit pricey - locks to a farmer who might need a $4,000 part to repair his tractor.

"For celebrities, hair, make-up and stylists are exactly like that tractor part," he explains.

"They are the ones who create that aura for the celebrity and her look. These people are much in demand, so they're worth every single penny they get - and more."

Fellow stylist Philip Pelusi agrees.

"The most important accessory that you own is your hair," he says, adding that he "can understand" why some stylists charge so much to travel with a star.

"It's not that the hairdresser wants to overcharge," he says, "but they need to make up what they lose in the salon."

And for an in-demand hairdresser like Tricomi, it can be mighty costly to leave his base business behind.

"My days are more than $10,000," he admits. "It's significant to walk out when you're booking days like that."

And, Tricomi points out, stylists such as Jennifer Aniston's mane man Chris McMillan are originators - not imitators.

"We're the people who are creating the trends," he says. "It's short-lived and other people collect on that."

Meaning, the looks eventually trickle down to the hoi polloi (remember the phenomenon that was The Rachel?) and the original stylists don't see a dime from the zillions of copycat cuts.

Translation? They get to charge $56,000/week for stars to be in their capable - and creative - 24/7 care and therefore inspire the masses.

"Even I've cringed on occasion," Pelusi says of some stylists astronomical fees. But, he adds, he doesn't think McMillan's fee is outrageous.

Tricomi wasn't shocked by the sum, either. Says the stylist: "I know mostly everybody would say this is really crazy, but most people don't have a job like this."

In a story posted on W magazine's Web site, the 45-year-old actor defends both women and says his relationship with Jolie didn't begin until after he and Aniston split in 2005.

Jolie revealed last year that she and Pitt fell in love on the set of the 2005 film "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." In November, Aniston called Jolie's comments "really uncool."

Pitt tells the magazine for its Jan. 20 issue that filming continued after he and Aniston split, and that his relationship with Jolie wasn't "some kind of dastardly affair."

"I'm very proud of the way it was handled," he says. "It was respectful."

Though Jennifer Anniston denied the rumors that she is pregnant — with twins, no less — on Oprah recently, the star of the upcoming Marley & Me says she feels like motherhood is in her future.

Aniston, who has been dating singer John Mayer on and off for the last few months, told Entertainment Weekly "It's almost going to take away the fun from actually being able to say one day, 'I'm pregnant!'" She also teased, "Everyone will be like, 'Yeah, right.' It's the boy who cried wolf. Stop stealing my thunder, motherf---ers!"

Aniston is on the cover of the Dec. 12 issue of EW to promote Marley — which opens Christmas day and costars Owen Wilson — and told the mag that her role in the movie let her feel out being a mother. She said, "I feel like that's in my future and I'm on the verge of it in some way," and continued with, "So it was great to sort of dip your toe in it."

Remember how Jennifer Aniston couldn't be in Seattle a couple weeks ago to film location shots for the romantic drama "Traveling" because she's in Miami filming "Marley and Me?"

Well here's an interesting little sidebar ... This week "Marley and Me" began shooting in the newsroom of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, where more than 100 cast and crew are already mulling about, making it hard for reporters to get any work done while Owen Wilson, Alan Arkin and "Grey's Anatomy's" Eric Dane shoot scenes in the paper's redecorated Florida office.

These poor, poor journalists. Here's a funny take from a Sun-Sentinel blog. And here's a bit from Bob Norman's Daily Pulp blog:

"If big news breaks today, we're screwed," one newsroom staffer told me. "They are starting and stopping filming continuously. It's just pissing me off. The star took a break from filming her new romantic comedy Marley & Me to spend the day lounging by the ocean in her luxury resort. The former Friends star has made the most of her free time while staying in Florida - last week enjoyed a spending spree at Bal Harbour Shops with stops at Chanel, Ferragamo, Gucci, Neiman Marcus and Prada. She is also said to be getting close to the her co-star Owen Wilson, who plays her husband in the adaptation of John Grogan's memoir.

The scene was the talk of the film leading up to the release of the movie.

However, she would later reveal that she is comfortable with her one body, but she did prefer a closed set. It's no wonder as to why, the topless shots of Jennifer would later leak out and were published by an overseas magazine despite the threat of a lawsuit.

It's not really clear why this story is being re-hashed but it has found it's way back to the World Wide Web. It might be because she has what has been described as a Sudsy Sex Scene that is supposedly red hot in her new film. The lucky guy is costar Steve Zahn is "Magaement." Zahn should be used to A-list beauties mauling him on screen. He had a red hot scene with both Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz in Bandidas back in 2006.

Marc Malkin of E! reports that there is no skin in this scene but an on set source claims that Jennifer is outstanding in the scene. The source might be Paris Hilton as it is only described with two words, "It's Hot!"

The mag notes that Jennifer spent Valentine's Day celebrating her love but it was for her job. The actress, 39, who's been shooting the drama Traveling - opposite Aaron Eckhart in Vancouver, pulled an all-nighter on February 14, filming from 5 p.m. until 4 a.m. in the blustery cold of New Westminster’s Queen’s Park.

"It was a rainy night and everyone was bundled up and trying to stay warm,” an eyewitness tells the Hot Stuff section of this week's Us Weekly Magazine. "But she seemed very polished and easily nailed her scenes. She seemed very happy with herself."

An Aniston pal tells the weekly magazine that the actress is finding comfort in her career these days, and has deprioritized her personal life. “She is happy, but it’s the same old stuff,” the friend says. “She is focusing on work and tuning out love."

Ah Thanksgiving. Where families meet around a big turkey dinner to argue over politics, religion and football. Oh yes - an exes. At least that might be the case at the Pitt household. According to a report from the BANG media in the UK, Brad's mom has invited Jennifer Aniston to Southern Missouri for the day of thanks. Apparently Angelina Jolie is not so thankful; reports claim that she is furious at Brad Pitt's mom.

Earlier reports have claimed that Angelina was concerned that she would be left alone with the Pitt family while Brad took off with his siblings. It was claimed by Star Magazine earlier that Jane had already lectured Angie on keeping a better grip on her tongue during interviews.

If this all plays out as the report suggests, one can only guess that Jolie won't show up in Southern Missouri for turkey day. Reports have claimed that she is still upset over a Father's Day disaster in California. That's when Jane Pitt was photographed by the paparazzi going into Jennifer's beach side home while Angie was throwing a party for Brad.

Reports at the time suggested that Jane had decided to bail on the party that Jolie had set up to honor Brad, and instead went across town and up the Pacific Coast Highway to see her favorite ex daughter in law.
